Greenfield, WI, August 2, 2016 — The event planners at Debra Lopez Public Relations were thrilled with the drastic increase in exhibitors and supporters at this year’s MECA Vest A K-9 Fest. Held on July 23rd at Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, the 5th annual event saw a 50% increase in exhibitors. Despite the high temperature and humidity, fest-goers showed their unwavering support for the MECA Foundation and its mission to vest Wisconsin’s police canines.
“The diversity of local businesses that supported us this year was remarkable. We had such a wide variety of vendors and entertainment for the public to enjoy. After this year’s turn out, I can only imagine the size of next year’s fundraiser!” Dr. Marla Lichtenberger, founder, MECA Foundation.
Guests at MECA Foundation’s annual fundraiser had the privilege of watching demonstrations of the many skills police K-9’s have. Participating K-9 units educated the on-lookers about the various ways the dogs put their lives on the line each day.
The entertainment included the music of up and coming country star Nora Collins. Attendees strolled thru exhibit booths filled with dancing, massages, adoptables, games, artists, home improvements and more! Milwaukee Brewer fans lined up to meet members of the team, including a last chance autograph from recently traded star, Jonathan Lucroy.
Donations poured in for the largest silent auction the fundraiser has had to date and autographed baseballs were raffled off throughout the day. Supporters had the chance to purchase “I helped vest a K-9” t-shirts and make donations directly to the charity.
“The best part of this event is that every dollar donated is an investment in the safety of our communities – and it never hurts to have a little fun while doing it,” added Lichtenberger.
