Wisconsin Wildlife Wins Again As Injured Hawk Gets Life Saving Surgery and Then Released

In May, Dr. Molly Lien, a veterinarian at Brook-Falls Animal Hospital & Exotic Care performed surgery on the hawk rescued in Wisconsin after a near-death experience. Thursday, June 27, 2019, the hawk was released by the team that combined efforts to save it.
A WE Energies employee discovered the hawk caught in a live power line – three stories in the air. With the help of Wanakia Wildlife, a rescue and rehabilitation center for wildlife in Washington County, the hawk was rescued. However, the bird sustained severe injuries to its leg.
The deep wounds required several surgical procedures performed by Dr. Molly Lien along with her team. After undergoing surgery, Dr. Lien then assisted Wanakia Wildlife in the rehabilitation and care of the hawk’s leg. Over the following six weeks, the hawk slowly recovered and was returned to the wild. Among the group of well-wishers was Dr. Lien.

South Korea Veterinarian Travels to Menomonee Falls to be Mentored by Local Veterinary Avian and Exotics Expert Jennifer Bloss, DVM.

Recently, Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc. became a major veterinary teaching hospital and a welcoming host to South Korean veterinarian, Dr. Choi, and his technician Sunmin who traveled across the globe to learn about avian medicine.
Unfortunately, there are no avian veterinarians in South Korea. Avian pet owners are forced to take a ferry to Japan to find care for their birds. Because of this, Dr. Choi’s goal is to learn more about avian medicine to expand his practice.
Dr. Choi and Sunmin stayed with Dr. Jennifer Bloss, and her family to receive around the clock coaching and mentoring. Dr. Choi and Sunmin left Brook-Falls with abundant knowledge of birds and have already begun to receive parrot clients in Seoul.
Brook-Falls gained a partner in the avian field and a lifelong friendship with fellow avian lovers across the globe.
